Hi everyone, my boyfriend and I moved into the Southwedge in early June. We live on Gregory near Ashland and have loved it, but the recent crime has us a little concerned. Our neighbors car was one of the recent car break-ins. Around 7:45 this morning we were out walking our puppy and witnessed nearly a dozen FBI swarm a house on Averill. It was the second house in off of Ashland towards Mt. Hope. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this. It honestly looked like it was from a movie or criminal tv show. Just a little worried since it is only 2 blocks away and had us concerned. We love our house and the neighborhood and plan on being here for a while so just trying to keep tabs on anything worrisome!
Oh wow, thats really ridiculous. We live on hickory, between Ashland and Mt. Hope, so that was really close by....I have been a little concerned by the crime in here as well. We lived here for 2 weeks when our car was broken into. Fortunately I haven't heard of any other brake-ins on our street, but a few times now, we've had cops go down the street super slow shinning spotlights between our houses, looking for someone I suppose.
It seems like this area is really getting a lot better, I just want it to speed up a little bit ;)
I live next door, and was woken up by the FBI pounding on the neighbor's door. There were about a dozen FBI agents and city cops there. After they opened the door, there was just a bunch of milling around with clipboards. They carried out the tenant's computer, and some other things in evidence bags. There's definitely not enough traffic there to suspect people selling drugs, so I'm assuming it's something other than that.
When I asked the cop what was up he said, "executing a search warrant." So I just went back inside and went back to business as usual.

That was my building, though thankfully NOT my apartment-- (it was apt 1, i'm in apt. 2).
Not the most pleasant thing to encounter when returning from a dog walk. All the cops would tell me was the same thing they told Ben-- that they were executing a search warrant on that apartment.
Its a good thing when they arrest these people and remove them from the area... And lets be honest we all live in the city, and southwedge is safer than park ave these days because we are a nieghborhood... We all go to the same stores, bars, coffee shops etc and most importantly we all communicate with each other... Stop in at the tattoo shop as there are quite a few of us block by block that have our own networking to keep our nieghbors safe and we all come running when needed..
