Rochester's South Wedge Neighborhood Social Network

My job has recently placed me in Rochester and I have heard great things from other people about the city but have stumbled across the Southwedge. I guess what I'm looking for on here is for other peoples thoughts about living in the area and what the area is like. Im 25 and very outgoing. I like to meet new people and have a drink or two on the weekends. Am I looking in the right place?

I have lived in Rochester for twelve years and in the Southwedge neighborhood for the past four years. I like to think of it as the best area of the city to be living! I would highly recommend checking the Southwedge. We have many shops, unique corner specialty food stores like Misen Place, Nathaniel Square Corner Store the list goes on. Also great places to grab a excellent dinner or lunch, coffee shops and to satisfy your sweet cravings we have great specialty bake shops. All within walking distance! I love the wedge! Welcome to Rochester!

I have lived in the Wedge for eight years; my wife's been here around twenty. As to where you should live I suppose it depends on your personality. The Southwedge tends to attract a more eclectic type of person. The rent is more reasonable than Park Ave and the area is way less gentrified. Whether you're looking to rent or buy the area's pretty solid. Just stake out your potential neighbors the night before signing the contract to see how things are in the evening. It may change your mind.

Judging by your criteria, yes, you are looking in the right area. Depending on where you move to you're most likely going to be within walking distance of some great bars. Lux is my personal favorite, because it's full of such a wide variety of patrons, the drinks are reasonably priced and all the people who work there are incredibly friendly and attentive.

Aside from that, it's just a great community. I'm 26 years old and have lived in and around Rochester my entire life and have never, ever found an area in the city that is so welcoming and neighborly, but, as is always the case, there are still areas you may or may not like. In my opinion The Wedge is the best place to live in Rochester and pretty much beats Park Ave. with a stick.
