For those concerned, the RPD is starting a new program to bring civil suits to property owners who allow drugs to be sold out of their rental properties.
Great Idea. However, I would love to see the RPD actually put mobile cameras up to target these places and nab the people who service these properties. Several years ago, the largest drug bust in Monroe County took place on Sanford St. almost across the street from me. I never knew knew the drug dealers were there. I think the house is clean now. I think the landlord turned in the dealers to RPD. But if the property owner was not on site or paying attention, then maybe this new program would be a kick in the ass to stupid property owners to clean up their houses.
Hey Folks, This is Shawn from Location19 in the 19th Ward. Here is a link to the forums about Rochester Street Watch. http://location19.ning.com/forum/topics/rochester-street-watch
Currently the program is a test, that involves the Thurston Road corridor only, as a was for us to combat drug houses over here. But I have heard that if it's successful, it could be rolled out city wide.

Hey Shawn, nice site. Maybe we could link the two sites so we don't need to duplicate our log-ins, etc. Maybe Ben Munson can help with that. I like the idea of a centralized crime/drug-fighting site. Good luck and thanks for giving us the update.
