I am a retired (from RG&E) analyst, and love old things, so digging out the number of mules in the 1860s was a snap. I love your idea of a Civic Moron tee shirt...I hope someone will come up with an appropriate graphic design to make the point. I like your mule idea as well, so which ever flies is ok with me. I have 178 years of average monthly Rochester temperatures, 108 years of monthly snowfall, and several other databases, plus a bunch of old city directories. I would like acquire more Rochester Street directories, showing where people live by address...they started in the 1880s.

Tracy, it was a wonderful time meeting you yesterday (until you told us what to do :-)) Digging out 3-planters was so much work for an old man like me...but having the energizer bunny - Sonia around really helped! Your Open Face gift was frosting on the cake...as the Open Face is one of my favorite places to eat in the SouthWedge!! I love their ginger carrots and Salmon sandwich....so a giant thank-you to YOU!

I did some research on the number of mules in NY state 150 years ago, and as it turns out, there were only 2,254 Mules in the whole state in 1863 (New York State Agricultural Society Transactions) vs 579,715 horses. But I agree...Mules are the pack animals who do the work...so your idea is on target as a mascot. Always willing to help....let me know what is next!

Hi Tracy,
It was so nice meeting you yesterday!! A good morning to work on emptying those containers. Of course it's always great catching up w/ Robert too! Wow I surely wasn't expecting the nice treat though! How very generous Open Face Sandwich shop was! Thank you BASWA! I will definately love lunch on them-Thank you again. Please keep me updated on the planters.

hi Bruce!
BASWA maintains the planters and this year they should be smashing! contact Chris Jones at Historic Houseparts for more info and opportunities to help.

Happy Sunny Day Sunday!

I know I just can't help myself on such a nice day and here I sit a the computer.

I left a post on the Garden Group page regarding the planters along South Ave. Would you know how those are administered, who is responsible, etc. I think our SW area would look just smashing if we can upgrade the care on those planters! Or am I stepping on someone's toes on this one? Should we pull together a discussion one of these days at Solera or one of the coffee places.

Cheers,

Bruce

I'm starting my perrenial border this year, so those hibiscus plants sound great. Would they be okay in partial sun, or should I find them a very sunny spot? I hope the ground thaws soon! I'm excited to start swapping. Thank you.

hey i have a couple of holly plants that i rescued from the side of the road last year and planted. they were nearly dead and they're doing a lot better, but they need some serious pruning back before they'll really do well. anyways, i saw that you mentioned you're thinking about buying some... you can have these two plants as soon as the ground thaws. i don't have the space. (come look at them anytime, i'm on averill between south and mt. hope, so just let me know)

Hi all,
I have alot of pictures to upload, both gardening and neighborhood. I've been out of town but will have some more time to build the group site.
Philip and I would love to have people over this Spring and swap plants, maybe draw up a few plans for neighborhood gardening.
