Just wanted to make sure you heard about the purse-snatching/assault that took place on Friday night at the corner of South and Hamilton? Just wanted to make sure you had the details from the police. From what I gathered at the scene of the crime as one of the victims was speaking to a gathering crowd of people trying to help, there were three assailants. Could you try to get descriptions?

D.W.A.C. or Dog walkers against Crime wants to keep the South Wedge safe!!
We walk every Tuesday at 6pm, weather permitting, meeting at Marie Daley Park.
DWAC isn't just for Crime-Fighters- the dogs benefit from the socialization and exercise.
You don't even have to bring a dog! It's a great way to get some exercise, meet some of your neighbors and take a little tour of the Wedge.

Car Break-ins Hamilton St near South Ave.

Sunday morning between 8am and 930 am our car window was smashed to retrieve John's Bass amp out of the back seat. Our car was in the driveway RIGHT below our bedroom window. Next door, our neighbors friend's vehicle was broken into as well. The night before my neighbor saw 3 young black guys on bikes riding up and down the street. We now wish we called it in but alas....

Our Season is set to begin!!

Some Important information regarding this season:
New SITE!!: www.dogwalkersagainstcrime.com
*On 3/31 we will have an informational DWAC meeting at Lux. The purpose of this meeting is to "sign-up" for DWAC Tuesdays. We will also be giving out Doggie Bandanas to the Humans that attend.
*On 4/7 will be the first walk.

This Year, DWAC will be doing things a bit differently. We realize that it is too much to ask for folks to walk EVERY Tuesday so we will now have folks "sign-up" for the Tuesdays t… Continue

Wedge Crime Update

PCIC Meeting with Local Police on 12/10/08:
The crime update showed a decrease in Burglaries (Home & Commercial) and Aggravated Assaults over the past 90 days.
The biggest increase was in "Larcenies" which includes car break-ins and thefts without force.
In the past 90 days? 180 larcenies reported. Because most of these reported had to do with vehicles the Police asked from us some very obvious (DUH!) preventions:

UPDATE: Dog Walkers Against Crime

DWAC will now meet at 8pm at the park starting JULY 8th!!!

We know some folks get out of work later AND the criminals aren't always around during rush hour.

I hope to see everyone tomorrow, JUNE 24th, at 6pm!!!
