Saby Reyes-Kulkarni Looking for 1-2 bedroom SW/Ellwanger-Barry apartment

I'm a local writer (I freelance for the music section of City Newspaper) and have been in love w/ the Wedge since moving to the neighborhood in '05. I am currently renting a room in a 4-bedroom on Weider Street but am looking ahead to living in a place that is more ideal for my working needs. I work at home, sit at a computer a lot, and have to read and listen to music (quietly!), so I'm looking for a 2nd-floor apartment 1-2 bedroom/half-house that could have a nice "den" feel to it. I would lo… Continue

Saby Reyes-Kulkarni House for rent (Weider Street) / looking for 3-4 roommates to share house on Weider Street

4-bedrooms, $300 a month plus utilities for each room. I shared the house with three roommates and am looking to move out between now and November. Washer-dryer (not coin-op!) and dishwasher in house. Very quiet street nestled between Nicholson and Cayuga, very close to Mt. Vernon, many trees everywhere. Please e-mail sabyreyeskulkarni@gmail.com or call 473-5147 if interested. I can show you the place or tell you more before you come look. Continue

Dog Walkers Against Crime Car Break-ins Hamilton St near South Ave.

Sunday morning between 8am and 930 am our car window was smashed to retrieve John's Bass amp out of the back seat. Our car was in the driveway RIGHT below our bedroom window. Next door, our neighbors friend's vehicle was broken into as well. The night before my neighbor saw 3 young black guys on bikes riding up and down the street. We now wish we called it in but alas.... THE Up-side? Large bass speakers are not easily transported via-bike. When looking around we found it in a neighbors backyard… Continue

ed kramer Southwedge News article June/July "What's Wrong With This Picture"

I am very suprised at this article asking people to circle what's wrong with this home. There are several homes in the Southwedge that are in need of repair and to single out an individual and post his name and number in The Wedge is wrong on many levels to me. It seems that the protocol of City or Rochester C of O officers and the NET office have not been sucessful so this was the chosen direction. We all have to choose our battles but targeting someone in this fashion is not the answer. With a… Continue

heather fluet Save your shampoo

Did you know that if you are experiencing dry hair you may be washing it too frequently? If you are the type to wash it every day try rinsing it with water really well and conditioning one day and shampooing and conditioning it the next. Shampooing every other day will let the naural oils stay in your hair and help keep it moisturized! Continue

Jim LeChase Crazy? Check. Drunk? Check.

"So it goes." - Kurt Vonnegut, Slaughter House 5 Any self respecting hipster worth his salt can spit out a decent Vonnegut quote these days, but I'm not a self respecting anything. When I look back at my life I think about the horrible things I've done to my body and the words "self respect" never come into play. I spent a good three months of my life on a couch drinking a handle of vodka or whiskey or whatever was around the house or cheap enough to buy at the liquor store across the s… Continue

Jim LeChase Happy Wear Green Day...

When my clock-radio alarm went off this morning I was treated to the soothing sounds of the bagpipes. I hit snooze. Nine minutes later I was aurally engulfed in the Irish Ballad of "Danny Boy." I hit snooze. Another nine minutes passed before I heard the monotone voice of NPR's morning news man reporting on the most recent developments in the AIG bailout fandango. I did not hit snooze. I made my way out of bed and let my dog out to do his business. I brushed my teeth. I showered. I put on a blue… Continue

Jim LeChase Tiger is Back... yes I'm a freak about Golf... bite me.

Today at 12:02 PM (pacific time), Eldrick "Tiger" Woods returns to the PGA Tour for the first time since he won the US Open last summer... on one leg... in a 19 hole playoff... on one leg. In case you didn't understand the full force of that last statement I'll elaborate: The US Open is a standard, stroke-play tournament that lasts 72 holes and is known throughout the world to be a patience testing, body numbing golf battle that even some of the greatest players of all time have buckled under th… Continue

Jim LeChase Hey Hipsters! It's Oscar Season!

Like the vast majority of the ironic t-shirt wearing crowd I pride myself on my taste in movies, but, unlike the majority of the thick framed glasses masses, I'm a dick about it. I don't take myself too seriously, because that would be impossible. I'm a bad day and losing my keys away from being homeless and I get all my entertainment via Netflix, Hulu and the incredible DVD collection I've amassed over the past few years. Still, while my tastes may very, I know what I like. So without further a… Continue

Jim LeChase Remember this day, or forget tomorrow; whichever comes first.

Rare is the person who has the ability to inspire an insipid cynic like myself, but Patton Oswalt has managed to both inspire and encourage me. All without ever having met this man. I know I'm wading carefully into stalker territory when I write about someone I've only met via his stand up comedy DVD's, his Spew blog on www.pattonoswalt.com and various other media at my finger tips (thanks internets!), but I don't entirely care. Mainly, because I'm a gig… Continue
