About Me:: D.W.A.C. or Dog walkers against Crime wants to keep the South Wedge safe!!
We walk every Tuesday at 6pm, weather permitting, meeting at Marie Daley Park.
DWAC isn't just for Crime-Fighters- the dogs benefit from the socialization and exercise.
You don't even have to bring a dog! It's a great way to get some exercise, meet some of your neighbors and take a little tour of the Wedge.

The purpose of this page is for updated DWAC news, weather cancellations and blogging about current crime conditions in our neighborhood.

We are open to suggestions for making not only DWAC more effective but also other "crime-deterent" ideas.
so far the "Doggy-Superheroes" that have walked (updated 6/13/08):
Joey, Chloe, Cooper, Bill, Stella, Veruca, Kaya, Baron and friend, Lexi and I am sure I am forgetting somepooch (instead of someone!!).

We will have T-Shirts & Stickers soon!!!

We are also thinking of changing the walk time to about 8 since it is getting hot and crime happens later, especially in the summer.

So, Come and walk with us!! Even if you can only come once-in-a-while!!

DWAC will now meet at 8pm at the park starting JULY 8th!!! We know some folks get out of work later AND the criminals aren't always around during rush hour. I hope to see everyone tomorrow, JUNE 24th, at 6pm!!! Thank you and WOOF! -KAYA

Feeling like there's too much going on at a particular house?

Ok, we all have them on our streets-"party houses" some may call them. They may just be that; younger folks hanging out at a friend's drinking or what-not. (GOSH I am OLD!!) So- when should we, as neighbors, be concerned that there is something else going on? (e.g. drug dealing) Here's some clues: * people coming and going in a short time span. D.W.A.C. sick of me yet????

I just wanted to share with my fellow South Wedgers what has happened thus far with DWAC on Tuesdays.... So, the first Tuesday the walk was @ 5pm (not a good time) and 2 of my VERY FAITHFUL friends showed up. It was raining HARD. Yeah- I went home with a very wet dog. This is when I decided to ONLY do DWAC on non-rain Tuesdays. The second Tuesday (6pm) I had 5 humans and 4 dogs come (including John, Kaya & I). We walked down South Ave for a bit. It was freeezing.
